Estrela Relampago

I’m not sure when I’m going to start profiling Joes released after I stopped collecting toys in 1988. I’ve grown to appreciate the later, domestic ARAH figures and foreign releases over the past few years, but at this point I’m more focused on writing about toys from my childhood that I have a personal connection to.

With that in mind, I will try to post pictures of a later release or foreign Joe figure or vehicle every week. That way I can showcase some of my favourites without struggling to find a story to tell.

My first weekly random photos are of Estrela’s Relampago from Brazil, a Python Patrol repaint of Ripcord, a recent addition to my Joe collection. And understandably one of my favourites, already.

Relampago, not looking out of place on a shelf full of vintage domestic and foreign Joes and Cobras.

Relampago is a good figure. But, man, is he brittle. I’ve been scared to even put a gun in his hand for 20 years. Because of that, he doesn’t appear in nearly enough photos. But, the look is very well done and he’s a great match with Python Troopers and Officers.

Yeah, I’m a gambler and I’m not sure exactly why… So he’s still standing around with the rifle in his hand, weeks later. Don’t know what is the safer strategy, just leave it in or try to pull it out.

I know I’m just one mishap away from telling myself, “This is why you can’t have nice things.”
